I photograph, knit, draw and study the Japanese way of tea. One day I will open a tea house.
In the distant past, I reported and wrote for a living. I'm obsessed with process, documentation, details and gestures. My degree's in philosophy. I studied Chinese and Uyghur. Daoism is my way.
For decades, I've toted my camera everywhere and felt most comfortable behind it.
All that has informed my art practice and approach to architectural photography.
In May 2009, the Art Institute of Chicago opened the Modern Wing, designed by Renzo Piano. Read reviews in The New York Times by Nicolai Ouroussof on the architecture and Roberta Smith on the art as well as a walk through with Joe Rosa, the AIC art and architecture curator, in Interior Design magazine. Access accompanying slideshows of my photographs for The NYT architecture review, art review and Interior Design.
Commissioned by The New York Times and Interior Design magazine.
