Mindscrims images are documents of Michelle Litvin’s sculptures in process and part of accompanying portfolio of 17″ x 22″ prints, in editions of seven. Michelle employs a stream-of-consciousness knitting technique, grounded in meditation in action – thus, the name Mindscrims – and influenced by Chinese scholars’ rocks. Each stitch is a moment of chance, rather than an adherence to rules-based constraints. The yarn retains its shape, because it has a stainless steel core, which is coated in silk or wool. Michelle also uses mohair and thicker gauge stainless steel.
