Commission Michelle Litvin to hand knit a one-of-a-kind sculpture, based on your aesthetic. Michelle employs a stream-of-consciousness knitting technique, grounded in meditation in action – thus, the name Mindscrims – and influenced by Chinese scholars’ rocks. Each stitch is a moment of chance, rather than an adherence to rules-based constraints. The yarn retains its shape, because it has a stainless steel core, which is coated in silk or wool. Michelle also uses mohair and thicker gauge stainless steel. Michelle photographs the sculpture in process and produces an accompanying portfolio of 17″ x 22″ prints, in editions of seven.
